I had this trip planned for a long time to take 3 guys from work fishing? The plan was to run offshore and see if we could score some tuna but weather was not going to let us. I made the decision to run to the island and see if we could bag a few yellows and maybe a seabass. I knew if that didn’t pan out we could grab a few rock fish and the guys would be happy. We set up on a nice squid nest after a few hours of looking. Two of my three rookies were feeling a bit under the weather and laid down for some rest. My buddy chuck and I worked the Crowder till about 2am and then he was half sleep and went and lay down. I stayed up on night watch and put a few lines in the water. I was dozing in and out when my rod goes off and then the other rod goes off, I thinking mud marlin and he’s wrapped around the other line but then they took off in different directions. This fish was fighting hard and after gaining control I knew it was going to be a big seabass and it was(42lbs.). We ended up with two seabass and went one for three on the yellows. we also caught every other species you could think off. It was a great trip and we even gained a few points for the tournament. Joe

Geez,

You never cease to amaze me with those big WSB. Who says they only bite in the Spring?? You certainly put in some hard work to get these fish. The late night squidding and sitting up all night. I know it's fun but, it's also quite a bit of work. Great job!

I have an addiction to them. Plus they have to be one of the best eating fish I have ever tasted.

Even the guy that downed all the hotdogs couldn’t eat that much WSB. Nice job on the croakers Joe.
