Started off on the North west corner in 90 feet looking for one of those big winter halibut. Worked this area with a freezing east wind for a few bottom critter and a nice hook up that felt like a Yellow until the hook pulled. When the wind died I moved up the line to Torrey for an hour or two of nothing.
Worked my way back down the line checking out a few spots off Blacks and finally finding some bait holding tight to the bottom off Scripps. Picked up one short in the area while dodging all the lobster gear.
Made my last drifts off Mission Beach for one more short and a few more bottom dwellers.
I'm off the water until the 22nd when I start my 11 day holiday break from work.
