I'm new to the site. My name is Brent, I hail by VAQUERO. I live in San Diego & fish, spearfish, and surf. I'm looking to get into a used Blackman. Thinking of spending $35,000 - $50,000. I don't mind a boat that needs some work if the price is right. I came very close to buying the 23' that was just for sale, but it was bought out from under me. That boat was put together really well so now my expectations are really high. I'm putting the feelers out to see if anyone here knows of a potential candidate. I would perfer an outerbanks. I'm a fan of the pilot house. I found a 1986 26' outerbanks with flybridge for $40,000 but it is far away. It looks nice but I don't know how much work it needs. What do you think? Worth the price? If I need to repower, what would you recommend? Weight is about 7,000. I would post a picture, but I don't know how. Thanks for any help you can offer. Hope to be a Blackman owner soon.

Try this link for pictures. Not sure it will work.

Hi Brent,

I have a 1984 26' Billfisher flybridge model with a fairly new AD-41 DP (~1100 hours). Boat is Tenacious. No need to repower. Tronics are a little outdated but, other than that it's a nice boat that is ready to go. I'm asking $45k. If interesetd I could send some PICS (just give me your e-mail address) or you could visit it in Clairemont. Love the boat but, getting difficult to fund my fishing habit on a single income with two kids that love to eat. I'm not aware of other Outer Bankls models for sale at the moment.

Thanks Yellowfin. I appreciate the heads up on your Billfisher. I'm going to keep looking for an Outerbanks for now. What do you think about the one in the pictures? Best of both worlds in my opinion. See you on the water.

Brent,

I couldn't look at the pictures of the Outerbanks as I don't have a login for that site. Good luck on your search. If I hear of any I'll post here.
Are you by any chance Brent from S.D. lifeguards?

Take care,
Scott

It's more of a Billfisher/Outerbanks hybrid demon-spawn love child...

I don't think the bridge itself looks that bad, it's the combo of bridge and Outerbanks/pilothouse windshield. I think it just doesn't look right to us Billfisher owners because the ladder is on the wrong side :( I'd walk right off the port side and end up flat on the deck.

Here are some more pictures. Getting closer to a deal. Talking about $35,000 as the final sale price. Engine has alot of hours 3,400. Owner says runs fine, but I'm going into this with the assumption I will need to repower in 1 or 2 years. Electronics need to be updated / added. Wiring is unknown. This is a 1 owner boat that appears to have been well cared for. I figure worst case scenario I'm in for an additional $50k to make it like new. Any final advice?

Isn't this boat located in Mex.?
Have you gone down to check it out in person?
I like all the bimini action. Shade is a must when fishing the Sea of Cortez :)

Vaquero, That is a unique setup. I like the FB setup. I have the tuna tower and had to add a step and handrail to get over the top rail in a swell. They ought to design those tuna towers with a swing opening for entry. I like the vertical steering wheel. I am going to angle mine slightly vertical from horizontal. If you can buy it for $40, go for it. If you decide to dump the FB, my yard is available.

You guys think Blackman made this FB? Or was it a remodel?

Brian_g, I bought that one on yacht trader. Mine is on J dock with all the new dings. I wish they would make these things so they don't crash into the slips.

Acetone is your friend, takes off all the rub marks. Add a touch of wax afterward and your good to go again!

Charlie,
How about donating those nice little carpeted roller wheels and large white bumpers to a very worthy and needy cause? bill

VAQUERO,
Did you ever end up checking the outerbanks hybrid?

Also,
Does anyone know of any outerbanks on the market?

How much are you looking to spend?

~50K
Seems like the Billfishers the the more popular boat. Outerbanks are few and far between.

Tenacious is till available. You should check her out before counting her out of the equation. At $45K she's a damn good deal.

Scott,
I believe you about the Tenacious. The issue with the Billfisher is that my Dad and I would be partnering on a boat, and he's at a point where going up and down the ladder to the flybridge could be risky. Piloting is a big deal to him, so it's a big deal for me that he is able to get to the helm easily.

The Billfisher would be my first choice though!
