Hooked up with Zack again for our end of February, first of March squid collection trip. As usual be wait until the bite is over before getting our schedules to mesh and putting a trip together.

The main goal was to put some fresh frozen in the freezers for Zack's upcoming trips to cat and if we got real lucky put a big yellow or WSB in the box.

It's always tough to compete with the light boats for the squid,s attention, but this year we kicked up the light output just a bit. I refurbished a monster metal halide parking lot lamp during the off season and added that to Zack's normal light spread. It was hard for me to see any difference in the 2 spots of light but the bait sure could tell. Within a couple hours we had a 20 foot deep tornado of mini shrimp swirling under the big light. The squid and mini macs would take turns pushing up under the shrimp until 1 am when the squid took over and foated well enough for us to hit it hard with the crowder.

Not as goog a haul as last year but we still managed 150 pounds for the freezer.

Sounds like a good haul. Well done, Mike, as always.
