Has anybody had an issue with their Volvo making oil? Last session I pulled the engine and replaced all the seals. Then about a month ago after a trip I noticed a larger amount of oil in the bilge. I also noticed when I sit after a run I have fuel boil up from the outdrive. The boats been running hotter, the oil pressure as been down, the fuel mileage has been really bad and I have a huge loss of power. After some research I think I have 2 bad injectors and I am leaking fuel into the oil. There is also fuel and oil pushing up from the same 2 injector seats. The oil level never changes and the bilge oil level keeps rising. I am also looking to barrow the tool to remove the injectors if someone has it. Joe

I'd start with a compression test. If you have no compression on a cylinder the fuel could be bypassing the piston and ending up in the pan. No reason to spend money on injectors if the piston is bad.

I recently bought the tool.
You are welcome to use it (I don't remember which engine you have, mine is a 41B).

They rebuilt all 6 of mine two weeks ago fro $280.

I talked to Joe today and he found the oil leak and it was unrelated to his power loss. That's the good news.

He pulled his injectors and dropped them off for overhaul. This is were the bad news starts. If you own a KAD32P-A, TAMD42W-J-A, KAMD43P-A,
KAD43P-A, B or C, KAMD44P-A, B or C, KAMD300-A or KAD300-A you all use the same injector and there is only one Volvo shop in South Carolina that is authorized to rebuild them. This is an emissions thing and they are keeping a tight grip on the parts to assure they are up to factory specs when they get rebuilt.

Not good new for some of you with those engines but I thought you might like to know what you're in for before they ask you to bend over and grab your ankles.

I may have some of my numbers and facts crossed up but this is what I remember from talking with Joe and Advanced Diesel today.

Joe's mechanic got Bosch in Germany to pull some off the shelf to help them out. The #1 injector has a sensor in it that connects to the computer and has to be bought as a complete unit. Just under $500 shipped from Germany, and who know how much once it gets a coat of green paint and put in a plastic bag with a Volvo number on it.

The other 5, I saw on the Internet for $350-$600 each and Bosch offered to pull 5 off the shelf and tear them down so they could ship just the nozzles, o-rings and a washer plate he needs for around $150 each.

Going the rout Volvo has set this up, you're looking at $3000-$4000 for a set of injectors. With the Bosch factory's help Joe is looking at $1200 to get the job done.

I think the #1 injector part number is 3583074 and goes for $ 546.33 on marinepartsexspess.com
I think injectors 2-5 part number is 861103 or 3803038 if you have an exchange. $343.13 and 321.08 on the same site.

Thanks Mike for posting the info. All said and done the injectors are going to run between $1200-$1500. The oil leak was caused by a fatigue crack in the oil pan. Long story short it was 100 percent my fault. I added a bung to the bottom of the pan with a drain hose to make oil changes easier, the 90 I used was BARELY rubbing on the bilge of the boat and put a 2 inch stress crack in the pan. I fixed the oil pan this weekend and ordered the new gaskets to reinstall the engine all said and done I am looking at 3grand.
