Sleigher, Question about your boat

First off, I'm sorry to see you parting with your boat. It's very nice and shows pride of ownership.

It looks like you have a SS rudder and it looks like it's larger than the one on my boat.

Does a larger rudder help in close quarters manuvering?

Maybe I'll sell her maybe I won't. We'll see.
I wish I could answer your question about the size of the rudder. Remember it's not the size but how you use it. (sorry I just couldn't help myself)
This rudder was on her when I took possession.
I would guess that more rudder helped at lower speeds but could be a hindrance at increased speeds.

I think my 20 ft Shamrock had a bigger rudder than my Blackman. I was hoping you would tell me how great the bigger rudder was. Then I would had had to spend some more money on the boat.
