Misson Bay Channel Close Outs...

Went down to see the big surf this morning and check out the MB Channel. Waves were closing out the channel all the way across. Couple of guys surfing the north side next to the jetty catching some good rights.

Then to my surprise some bozo in a rental sailboat starts heading out the channel. I couldn't believe my eyes. Lifeguard from the MB beach tower starts yelling at the boat to turn around, but the boat keeps going. Then a truck drives up right next to me and gets on his loud speaker and yells at the guy to turn around and he waves. For about 5 minutes we weren't sure if he was going to be able to turn around.

He made it back safely!

it seems this winter we have had more big surf days than I remember is past years, and it seems that the south jetty extension has made it worse in the channel. Apparently the cjhannel is supposed to be dredged in the next few months - for the first time in 15 years. Long overdue

Thanks for sharing the neat photos Tony. Surf has been amazing this winter! Haven't gotten any of the honey-do's or boat work done at all because of it.
