6/13 1 calico

3 hours of tossing plastic produced just one bite, but I'm not complaining.

Hit on a blue smelt swimbait in the La Jolla kelp. I think I'll drop my previous calico entry and replace it with this one. The fish was very slim and only weighed 6.9 pounds on my hand held scale.

The fish was released unharmed after a short rest in the bait tank.

Wow Mike! I don't appreciate you catching all the fish I was gonna catch! Congrats on a nice bass. I've never caught a calico on a blue lure. Brown or root beer has been real hot for me in the past. Was the water clear or dirty?

The water is real claen up in La Jolla right now. When you get the boat back spend a day or two fishing the calicos. The quality of the fish is a good as I can remember, lot of 5 pound + fish beeing caught.

Yep, I definitely plan to. I love those afternoon after-work runs to La Jolla. I'll give you a shout to see if you might get out with me and check out the ride plus rack up a few initial points for the board.
