Saw that a documentry on Bait Boat fishing is going to be on PBS tonight at 9pm. Tuna fishing the way my dad started, with a bamboo pole, steel leader, and Jap head.

I have the DVR set to record.

Rig up your bamboo poles now, we may get the chance this summer to get the Albies to get poled in. Did it a few years ago on the Royal Star. They were only the single pole models, but still a lot of fun.

My dad still has them hanging on the wall ready to go! Even still has his leather belt and knee pads.

No idea how those guys managed to wrangle 60-100 ton of fish onto the boat and into the holds in a day. There is a good reason my dad's arms looked like Popeye's and his hands were as big as baseball gloves.
