Shoulder injury has shortened my season so I'm already thinking of a few projects. I would like to remove my power assist steering system pump, ram and install a simple hydraulic ram. I have done this in the past on another boat but am not sure what ram and additional mounts I will need. Mike, I would appreciate it if you would chime in on this as your knowledge base is appreciated. I have a 41P with a 290 dp.

Thanks in advance, Zack

Do you have the same Hynautic helm that most of us have? Three tube system with a aluminum canister in the engine compartment, or is that what you would like to go to? I think FireEscape looked into adding a station awhile back and found those were no longer available. There is a replacement, but I don't think you can't mix the two types on the same system. Neen to replace everything if I remember correctly.

If you're looking at something that was made after the 90's, maybe one of the guys with a newer boat could advise on what they have for a steering system.

Mike, Thanks for the comeback. I guess I wasn't clear enough. I have seastar hydraulic steering. I just want to remove the power steering pump that attaches to the engine, belt, hoses, inline cooler and steering ram and go with a simple hydraulic ram. I did this before on another boat but forgot what type or model number of ram to use. Including attachments i will need for the outdrive steering arm.

Thanks in advance, Zack
