    Default New wooden rail project

There is one thing that I have never liked about my Blackman. The height and size of the stern rails. After fishing a friends boat last week who has a nice wooden rail around his boat he built custom, I decided it was time to make my self one. I rasied them from 28" to 32". Here is a short pictorial of the rails.

    Default Support

I noticed on your buddies rail there is an outboard support with a rod holder. Do you think you will also need a support at the cabin end of the rail?

Sweet looking rails. Adding the extra hight is a great improvement IMO.

Polished SS and finished teak---very nice. Patron has a hinged section in the rail that makes getting Big Moe in the boat a lot easier...RT

Thanks Guys, kicked but to get them done in time to fish the won whiteseabass/halibut tournament. That story will be on another post. Phil, I don’t think I’m going to put the extra support. The uprights are 1 1/4 tube and the rail is stronger than the original one.

Saw those sweet rails in person at the WON tournament. You got Zach and I both thinking about it for our rides. Nice job Joe.

P.S. Nice going on the WSB 3 minutes before weigh in at the tourny. Not back in time to the dock, but at least you got one of them ghosts.

    Later.
