Default Scored some points in San Francisco

We were up in SF from Nov 3 to Nov 10. The weather was unbelievable. 70+ degree weather with no wind or swell. For the opening of Dungeness crab season and only averaging 2 crabs per pot did not make for a great season opening. We did manage to catch a 10lb salmon, 13lb Ling, 6lb cabazone(wildcard) and 5lb blue to put us on the board for 2008.

    10lb Salmon

13lb Ling caught on a ultra light spining outfit with 10lb line.

    6lb Cabazone

    4lb red, 3lb bass, 5lb blue

Just one of the many schools of jelly fish we saw.

Blue Skys, flat seas and fresh fish.

Not only are you on the board, you're the top dog at the moment.

Now that you guys are out to a jack rabbit start, you'll spend the next 10 months looking over your shoulder wondering what the tortoise is doing.

    Default Road Trip

I'm starting to feel the pressure and my boat is still in the shop! 500 points might get you 3rd or 4th this year, get ready! And who's bright idea was it to include above the 34:30 line?

What are the chances of trailering up that far and getting nice weather like that?

Nice catch and report, Senor Juevos Grandes! You should get double points for the Blackman Shirt!

Did you catch the salmon close to the jellyfish schools?

The Jelly's were every where up there. We had to redo the lines every 10-15 min because the jelly's kept knocking the lines out the clips on the down riggers.

As for the weather.... 8 trips to SF in 4 years and only 3 or 4 days from previous trips came even close to this trip.

I've only trolled for salmon once and that was in Sitka, Alaska ; they used downriggers with smallish Sevenstrand mini clones in pink, purple, and lime colors and trolled around a large school of jellyfish; we got bit within 75 feet of the jellys every time and I was curious if jelly fish are actually Northern Kelp Paddys so to speak.
