    Default Halibut Classic (ATIHC)...

Well we fished the tourney. It was brutal conditions. Steady 20-30mph winds, cold, rainy. Fishing was very slow. Out of 41 boats and who knows how many anglers only 6 halibut were caught and only 4 were legal. The winning fish was 6.2lbs at 25.5" long.

    Final Results
    1st Place plus $20, $30, $50 jackpots $3574 - Lip Ripper - 6.8lbs

    2nd Place plus $75 side jackpot $2,222 - Wron Sea - 5.8lbs

    3rd Place - Produce Man - $300

    4th Place - Fish Fetish - $200

Due to very poor conditions outside not being fishable everyone fished the bay. We pounded the bottom from 6:30 am to 3pm for one Sand Bass, and a Bay Bass. I had some good bites, but they all came unbuttoned after setting the hook and reeling. Raked Baits!!! Very frustrating...

We still had a good time!

Mission Bay is a tough place to fish halibut. If the wind and tide are moderate and working in the same direction and you pick up lively small bait, it can be a 20 fish day. When any one of those three ingredients out of whack, you're lucky to scratch up a Spotty or two.

The guys that have spent some time in the bay under adverse conditions definitely have the upper hand on a day like that.
