Ok, I am getting older and maybe the problem is my hearing. Would either of you (Mike/Jeff) recommend running the boat on the water while the air filter cover is removed just to observe if the turbines are spinning?

It should be spinning at idle in the driveway.

I don't know if I ever heard my turbo spooling up, but I could always feel the boost when it kicked in @ 26-2700RPM on my tach. I think you can easily hear them on a Cummins motor though; everytime Shawn Trowbridge pulls up to the bait dock in his Legend I hear his turbos sing which sounds pretty cool. I have a 400HP CAT C9 in my motorhome and I haven't heard the turbo in it either.

I don't see any problems with that, as Mike says it should be spinning @ idle.

    Well,

I removed the air filter, started her up in the driveway and observed the turbo spinning. Additionally, as I increased the RPMs it spun faster. Maybe it really is just my hearing going bad.

    Default Filters

when in doubt, change your filters. If you are letting your filters show major clogging or drop in rpm's fork out for a half dozen filters and change every other trip.

RPM windup is noticeable on a ad41 if you know what to listen for. It does not sound like a race car. If your tack will peg out at 3900, engine runs cool and your are able to plane, top out around 24ish loaaded, i would say your boats runs fine.

    Go out and get um
