Ran inside the islands this weekend where I heard there was a little squid floating at night, 32:27 117:12. Stayed with it until the morning and caught an upgraded 23# butt
and a 4# Sandy.
Oh yeah, and a stray 30# WSB too.

Wow Jeff, why don't you add a "stray bft and a yts" into the mix while you are at it!
Nice catch!
Funny you should say BFT; they have been catching a few @ South Island scattered over the past 4 weeks, and we saw bright lights about 5-8 nm west of S. Isle that night. The next mornig we saw the Tuna seiners coming in from that direction, maybe to replentish their Tuna Farm. Maybe there's more BFT closer than everyone thinks, do they wrap fish at night?
Leader board is updated. Look out Tony, I think Jeff is starting to make his move.

When I was young I fished, on a purse siener at night, around our local banks. It was the pits. Everyone had a flashlight, but only for emergency use until the rings were up. It was cold but we did well. We only fished at nights and then drift during the day, watching the land and wishing we were at home. WEe only fished at night and the planktin would light up the water when blue fin tuna were moving in the water.
Looks like it's on. Where do I place my bets...
