I was able to find Goodyear Workhorse 8.75x16.5 tires at Discount Tires late last year. I had to order them. Bought 7, I have a triple axle trailer plus a spare $1100.00 ouch!!!! I think they are even more expensive now. TowMaster tires also offers a 8.75x16.5 "E" rated tire @ $130.00 per tire, but you will need to order on-line. Check www.boattrailertires.com

I switched to a 15" rim about 4 years ago and have had no issues. I don't remember the tire size but it is somewhere around 225 70 r15 with a weight rating that was higher than the original 16.5. My main concern was that the rim fit over the brakes and it did.

Think the 235/80/16 is too big?? Probably go 225/75/15. (like freespool did)Found Hercules "e"rated tires and new wheels for $560 out the door locally. Any other recommendations?

As long as were on the subject of trailers, Does anyone know a decent trailer rebuild shop other than Aros? Somebody mentioned El Dorado in SD; mine is to the point where I need to bite the bullet on a 12,000# Trailrite Triaxle or strip mine out and go new springs, brakes, master cylinder, rollers, structural frame repair/welding, and epoxy paint. The advantage to the new trailer would be the ability to travel Baja, I just won't do it with my Aros but 8-9K is gonna hurt for a new one.
