LJ kelp 7/29 with kids

Wife and kids returned from 5 weeks of visiting the in-laws. Is the party over?? No way. Took them all out to LJ Kelp yesterday afternoon and got them into some fast calico action. The kids (4 and 6 yrs old) were killing it. Both opted to release all of their fish. I kept 4 for dinner. I set both of them up with 8 lb spinning gear. Of course the 6 yr old gets a big boil on his bait and it freight trains 50 quick yards off of his reel before he knew what was happening, then broke the line in the kelp. The little guy turns green and we headed in. On the water at 2:30 PM, back on the trailer at 5:00 PM. 15+ calicos in 1 hour of fishing and two happy kids = happy dad.

With all the PBr's fishing the Point Loma Kelp lately, LJ kelp has very little fishing pressure and boat traffic.

Enjoy them while they're young. Now that mine are in their teens and early 20's, I'm luck if I can get them to go once a year.
