The regs confused me at first becasue i wasn’t reading the Southern Management Area.
Anyway, we fished the 9 mile bank area last week for limits of reds for 3 of us. Only one Boccaccio.
The Mexican Visa was about $31.

I think the bottom of the 9 will still be my go to area. It would be nice if the rest of the bank opens up, but I don’t think that’s what the new regulations say. Hopefully I can get some clarification at the DFG office

I ran into a DFG warden at the bay today. He confirmed that all water outside of the 75 fathom curve along the beach will be off limits to rockcod fishing this year. After discussing the 75 fathom curve, I asked what he thought the Regs meant when they said you could fish the Cowcod closure areas to a depth of 240' (40 fathoms). He was a little puzzeled on that as we both knew the 43 is way outside the 75 fathom curve we just discussed. Down here in San Diego we only think about the 43 when we talk Cowcod area.
My assessment of the new rule for the San Diego area is we got nothing but a half mile of mud out of the change.
