Thread: Broken trailer lugs.....

    Default Broken trailer lugs.....

Retrieved the Moo Fish and started back to Funkbrook with all systems checked and normal. Half mile later (right in front of the local strip joint) the trailer sheds a wheel with the drunk bikers out front either headed for shelter or trying to tackle the wheel. All the lugs are sheared and the rotor is frozen on the caliber. About an inch run out on the rotor. Open the brake line, release the caliber, pull the hub, pound in new lugs, mount the wheel with new lug nuts, and slowly back home. Next day, find the broken lugs along about 200 yards of the road---shearing off one at a time with the nuts still on the lug stubs. No tire tracks, no grinding noise, and the hub spins. I put a couple of lugs in the vise and beat on them with a ball peen---lugs seemed OK.

Anybody ever shear lugs? Any ideas why?

    RT,

Never have done that. Sounds scary. What an appropriate location for the lugs to sheer off. How were the dancers?
