    Default Trolling Speed

Need help with Trolling speeds for a 26' billfisher with 200 hp DP. The trolling speed at idle is important so we can use the boat for Salmon fishing out of HMB. Trolling speed for salmon is about 2-3 knots. Thanks for any feedback.

    Mark,

Sorry I don't have any advise for trolling that slow. I like trolling at 8+ knots.
    Good luck on the salmon.

When we fish the Thrashers down here, we're doing it 2-3 knots. I know my 23' with fish that slow, and I believe most of the 26' can troll that slow as well. Almost all the guys in the club got in on the thrasher bite this year and I know they weren't catching them trolling grater than 4 knots.

You can always prop down for salmon season to knock down your speed.

Having spent many years trolling for Salmon, I can tell you that our 26' Blackman's don't quite go as slow as you want, but they do ok. Most I/O boats don't go slow enough for Salmon. Did most my Salmon on outboard boats.
