    Default Just sayin' hi

    Hello Ladies and Gents,
Just wanted to take a few seconds to introduce myself. My father and I bought a 1979 23' Billfisher a few weeks ago. She's the Bimini Twist and we got her from Rich who kept her at the Dana Inn Marina. The boat's in great shape; you can tell Rich was a proud owner and I know he was sorry to see her go. Pops and I have been fishing on a 24' Wellcraft Airslot which is a great riding boat but we feel like Bimini will be an upgrade in comfort and reliability. That being said, wouldn't you know that as we were getting ready to take her out for the first time, one of the lines started leaking diesel? Isn't boat ownership wonderful? The line is coming in from Volvo any day now and we're anxious to get the boat in the water. She has the AQAD40b/80 outdrive combo and if anyone is an expert on these engines, I'm all ears! My father, John, is a mechanic by trade but we're much more experienced working with gas engines. The boat is on the trailer now but I plan on dropping off applications at a few marinas including in Mission Bay and O'side (I'm up in Newport, dad's in Fallbrook, so O'side is convenient). I've been lurking on the board for awhile and just wanted to say hello. Hope to see you all soon.

Pic is supplied by Rich, the boat now has a radar tower but is otherwise the same.

Welcome to the board and you won't find a more knowledgable source than No Slack Mike nor a sweeter 23 than his orange hulled sled. I think you're going to like your Bimini Twist; they catch fish!

    Default Welcome iclypso

I also think you"re going to have good fishing times on your 23. I'm of the opinion that the motor and hull combo is unusually good at getting bit.

Don't know what your experience level is but the folks on the board are quite knowledgeable and have really been nice about giving me great advice.

No Slack has running and maintaining the 23 down to a science. (I wanna be like Mike!)

Hope you get to fish her the way she otta be.

    Welcome to the club Dan,
Partnering a boat with your pops is so cool. Hope to see you guys on the water soon. Prior to repowering the Tenacious, I also has the AQAD 40B and experienced having to replace two fuel injector lines myself over the course of two years. Seemes that there were a couple areas where the injector lines rubbed together and when the engine vibrates it wore a small hole. Consider some of those rubber spacers if you don't already have them.

    See Ya,

Thank you all for the comebacks. Luckily for us, Rich kept very detailed maintenance records and he was certainly thorough with preventable upkeep. I'm sure I'll be in contact with plenty of questions and I appreciate all the advice. Let me know what to bring to the BBQ.

I think we have most of the food and drink covered, maybe we could use a couple of NASTY WOMEN!
